Where To Get Golden Gate Master

I made a HUGE mistake this year. I downloaded the beta and have had issues after issues. So, Now the question is: Where might one find a link to download the Golden Gate Master, no betas please. Thank you. Patrick

I always get my Installers from Mr. Macintosh:

I’d use a softwareupdate command line tool.

First, check what is available:
sudo softwareupdate --list-full-installers

then get a needed one using another key:
sudo softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 27.0.1

Thank you. Will it cause issues to downgrade out of beta to the 27.0.1 Master Golden Gate on Studio Mac Ultra?

It depends whether you want to set up from scratch with 27.0.1 or try to migrate your beta Data volume back in, and also whether you use iCloud Photos or not.

To keep your data you need to delete the internal System and Data volume pair, install the 27.0.1 System volume from a bootable installer and then migrate in the backup. Migration Assistant will probably complain that the back up was made from a newer version of macOS and say you have to update macOS to use it. However (sometimes at least) you have the option to proceed anyway. If you do you may well find Photos in 27.0.1 can’t open the Photos lib which has of course been updated to the beta standard. To get round this, if you use iCloud Photos you can just the delete the library, and create and download a new one. There is also an undocumented way which has worked for me to repair the incompatible library which will enable it to open in 27.0.1. Apple Mail can also cause problems and may have to be redownloaded. These are things that may happen not that will definitely happen.

If you are prepared to set up from scratch there shouldn’t be any particular problems, just redownload fresh Mail and Photos lib from iCloud. If you don’t use iCloud Photos you may need to try the repair method.

I would advise anyone not comfortable doing this stuff not to try betas. If you don’t like the look of the recovery things above you are probably better off riding out 27.2 beta until it is released probably early November and then turning off betas.

I am using 27.2 beta and not finding many issues. Maybe your issues have solutions.

I shall write lines over and over: I will not engage betas regarding macOS. Thankyou for your kind comments and expertise. Patrick

Or anything else. Betas are for testing and should only be run on computers where you don’t care about possibly needing to wipe it clean when something blows up.

Betas are not simply early releases and should never be run on production systems where an prolonged outage would create significant problems.
