Quick question: Before I install anything, I just want to double check that this is a valid combination, given the glaring mismatch in major version numbers.
Thanks!

Safari 27.0 is correct. Even on machines running Sequoia, Safari 27.0 is current.
Thanks, @josehill!
That’s all I needed to know. ![]()
I’m a Sequoia user here (and will remain so).
Safari 27.2 running just fine.
Currently running macOS 15. System Settings is now offering to upgrade me to 27.
An App Store link for 26 is not listed on Apple’s macOS download page, but I hope/assume it will be there soon.
FWIW, Mr. Macintosh says:
But now that 27 is out, maybe they’ll create a link for 26. If not, I assume the command-line softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer command will be able to download it. If I’m forced to upgrade from 15 to 27, I’m not going to be happy about it (and I’m going to end up taking even more time - I was planning on upgrading to 26 in a week or so, but I’m not jumping straight into any x.0.0 release.)
The Mr. Macintosh pages have links to the macOS Tahoe downloads. You probably know this but for others:
Thanks for that page. I’d still prefer the convenience of an App Store link, but those CDN URLs are probably more convenient than the softwareupdate command.
This is typical. When a new macOS is released, so is a new major release of Safari. Older macOS machines are offered the new Safari too, within limits. My macOS 13 Ventura machine has Safari 18 from macOS 15 Sequoia.
But new Safari on old macOS doesn’t have all the same enhancements you get when you’re on the current macOS.
I’m running Sequoia 15.8 on a MBP M1. I upgraded Safari few days ago but I got Safari 27; not 27.2 And it has been glitching a bit since updating too. Are you sure you have Safari 27.2?
Yes, that’s what I have.
I have Safari 27.0 on my Sequoia 15,8.1 system, and last night it got update through software update to 27.2
If you’re on Sequoia 15.8.1 and/or Safari 27.2, that presumably means you are on the beta release stream. The current standard releases are 15.8 and 27.0, respectively.
Thought so. Guess I’ll be waiting for the official Sequoia 15.8.1 update here in UK.
I am waiting, too, because it is supposed to fix this QuickLook bug.

If you want to be adventurous, you can install the developer beta #2 of 15.8.1.
That’s supposed to fix it. I don’t have any raw images with which to check, but I did install 15.8.1 beta 2 and it’s running fine without problems.
EDIT: looks like the 15.8.1 update is a public release now…
