Screenshot myself in the foot

Problem solved, for reference, in case it helps anyone else…

Today I tried making some usual shift-cmd-4 screenshots. I got the, ah, crosshairs I guess they might be called, swept across desired area, got the click sound but then no little version in the corner of the screen (MacOS 26.3), and they didn’t appear on the desktop and searching in Finder for “screenshot” revealed only old ones.

After some perplexed time and unfair cursing I remembered I’d recently taken some timed shots for another Topic here, by adjusting the Options that appear with cmd-shift-5 (Screenshot App). I’d known about the little strip with its options, but that was first time using it and I forgot to reset its options after posting the Topic.

Setting them back to ‘normal’ for my needs solved it. Also, the option for Clipboard was ticked and I looked in LaunchBar’s clipboard memory and there they were. Doh!

So if your screenshots seem to being taken but don’t land in the usual spot, check the Options and any clipboard saving locations/apps you might have!

I wanted to include screenshot of the Options that pop up but… the window could not be selected and cmd-shift-4 was non-functional with the Options displayed! Yikes! Time to look up first aid for screenshot injuries! ;-)
