Screenshot Right-Click menu - Need a Save As

Many times a day I am taking a custom snapshot of something I’ve done online.

I discovered when it pops up in the lower right corner that I can right-click it and get some useful options. (previously I clicked on it, then hit the arrow to open in Preview where I would save it to my desired location). So the right-click saves 1-2 steps.

But I need to save the items in various folders within Documents; there may be 5-10 different folders I’m working in throughout the day.

There apparently isn’t a way to modify the menu. Is there another app that would allow me to do the same type of snapshot and give me the flexibility I need in just a couple of steps?

The most streamlined thing I can imagine is the clip popping up in the center of my screen with a Save As dialog box right in front of me

I am doing Apple-Shift-4 to make my selection.

Also, this doesn’t mean I will never take a snapshot to go to my desktop, it’s just for work I need to save copies of things I’ve done and eventually upload them to their systems. So they need to be named and orderly.

Thanks!

I use Shift-command (Apple)-5 and always get a selection of screenshot types (Screen, Window, User selection, and videos). There’s an options dropdown that shows various destinations, among other things. It also remembers the destination for future screenshots of any type.

You might check out ScreenFloat. It saves everything to its own Shot Browser, but you can easily drag from there to specific folders.

Not a Save, but you can drag it from where it floats to any folder in the Finder, including the sidebar.

Sure can, and that’s what I used to do.

But they have to be named something and put into different folders so that takes more time (click, retype, find folder and drag to the correct nested location)

The right-click is a huge time saver for me but I am hoping I can save a bit more time :)

That held so much promise! But there’s no way to name it. Cool feature though and I’ll probably find it useful for something. Thanks!

On my Mac I also use snapshots just about every day. Years ago I wrote some Applescript to partially automate the process. See item 2 of this link:

Same interface results from launching Screenshot.app in the Applications > Utilities folder! I thought I remembered coming across such a thing in the past… Thanks for the reminder!
