Phone ringing, Google Voice, recent calls

I have an iPhone SE (2nd generation; iOS 18.7.8, but the issue existed on earlier versions) with Google Voice (28.36, but the issue existed on earlier versions). Voice does not have permission to access (Apple) Contacts and I have no contacts stored with Google. I have the iPhone set to Silence Unknown Callers. I get few calls, so it’s hard to identify distinct patterns.

Most of the time, the iPhone does not ring when someone not in my Contacts calls. Most of the time, the iPhone does ring when someone in my Contacts calls. In both cases, there are exceptions. What can I do to avoid exceptions?

This morning, I got two calls from a number not in my Contacts, and both calls rang. The Phone app’s Recents menu indicated two missed calls; the Voice app’s Recents menu indicated one missed call. I believe the Phone app is showing recent Voice calls in its Recents menu. If it is, how do I make it stop?

Thanks for any help.

I don’t think you can make it stop. As far as I know, Google Voice (and many other VoIP apps) use an Apple framework called CallKit to integrate with the Apple Phone app.

I don’t currently have the Voice app installed on my phone, but some quick google searching listed a few threads that say the Google Voice integration is not user configurable.
