I’m trying to have calls to my iPhone 17 pro (26.2) ring through to iPad Pro and/or iPhone 13 mini, both also on 26.2. The 13mini has no sim, the iPad not cellular. In the past, I have used my iPads and older no-longer-cellular iPhones as extensions of my active cell phone. I am having no luck now. Wifi calling is enabled on the 17 pro. “Allow on other devices” enabled on all three. And all connected to same wifi. I tried switching the 17 to LTE instead of 5G but still no joy. Same if I turn off/on the devices . In the past, this was easy to set up, but now there are so many settings to fiddle with I’m not sure which ones I need to toggle on. Any suggestions? Thanks.
P.S. Just experimented to see if turning on FaceTime would make it all work but still no joy.
Problem solved. I’m pretty sure it was coordinating all FaceTime settings in their various places within settings and between devices. I usually do not turn on Facetime so it took me a while to get it all straight. Happily, now both phones and iPad can make and receive calls, without having to deal with video. All that’s left to do ( most important !) is screenshots of all the settings.
Are you saying ‘traditional phone calls’ to the 17 ring also on the other two thru FaceTime via wifi?
I have noticed in setting up 26 on various devices that iPads and Macs now have a Phone App which looks just like the icon on iPhone. I skimmed a couple of pages on Apple and it wasn’t clear how it works, it made it sound like all of a sudden now Macs and iPads are phones. But they can’t be, it must be that they are linked to an iPhone somehow.
There is also a Setting for Default Calling App (or similar). Maybe useful for this scenario.
Not only does it ring on other devices, I can place and answer calls on them. I discovered there are two places on each device for FaceTime — under settings/apps/ facetime and settings/apps/phone. screenshots attached. The new “master” phone is set up with wifi on, wifi calling enabled and calls on other devices enabled - and you can select specific devices.
