Suddenly cannot make phone calls

Yet another bizarre problem…

I have long been able to make phone calls directly from my Mac Studio and talk thru the camera’s microphone and the computer’s speakers. Suddenly that stopped working even though all settings are correct on my iPhone and my Mac. I keep getting the following message:

“Call Failed. To make and receive calls, make sure iPhone is nearby and on the same Wi-Fi network as this Mac.”

Of course, the iPhone is 2 feet from the Mac and they are most definitely both on the same Wi-Fi network. What else can I do? Are others having this problem?

Maybe try Reset Networks Settings on your iPhone. You will then need to re-enter wifi passwords but otherwise it is convenient to do.

P.S. I sometimes need to do this if my iPad stops hotspotting to my iPhone. I have not had the issue you describe but it is related.

Tried that. Did not help…

No help here, but I had a similar problem with receiving calls. It worked, then it didn’t (no opportunity to answer the call; it just didn’t ring), but recently it started working again. To the best of my knowledge, I did nothing to break it and I did nothing to fix it. (My hardware: MBA M3 and Studio Display.) Good luck.
