This was the work-around that seemed to work for me but I’ve reported the problem to Apple. You should do the same, the more people that report it, the more likely it is to get fixed.
Thank you so much! That workaround does work. I have just submitted a bug report to Apple as you suggest
Besides the ‘stops playing’ problem I talked about earlier this week, I’ve seen the -return- of “won’t play the first track” problem that showed up 2 years ago, got fixed last year, and now seems to be back.
(But at least Mac Music.app still supports Album Shuffle in playlists. For a company that claims to care about music, it’s completely appalling to me that is not available on iOS Music.)
It is odd in that it is a highly visible error when you encounter it. On the other hand, I suspect that the number of people still copying tracks from CDs and then correcting the listings is so much smaller than it used to be, and so this is a much lower priority for Apple.
As a podcasting DJ, I hardly ever get sent physical CDs from promoters these days. The norm is a download link to music files of one form or another and these are often very poorly tagged. This is how I noticed the bug, when trying to correct an album of poorly tagged files. Given the history of bugs in iTunes and now Music, I suspect the app is low priority for Apple, despite their stated commitment to music (lower case m).
Since this thread has devolved into whining about Apple, I’m deleting the offending messages and shutting it down.
