Dennis: I LIVE HERE IN CHICAGO, AND CHASE HAS GONE BONKERS. I AM ALWAYS UPDATING MY OS, and I am currently at 13.5 (Monterrey) at 16.5. I am getting pissed off enough to leave them (after 50+ years). I have sat down and talked to Chase people, and they are MS people without a brain between them. I have caught them in lies. Now, I am considering going elsewhere for my banking needs.
They are also starting to discriminate against older people and that has my dander up in the are as well. This week they changed the passcode from 6 characters to 8 (or is it 9) numbers and the women on the prerecorded call speaks it so quickly it is difficult to understand it.
Wow! Fortunately, I just have a Chase credit card and I pay it off each month. I like to check the balance frequently to catch any bogus charges (I do the same with my other cards). Oh, when I know I’m going to be on vacation when a payment comes due, I usually double my payment for the previous month. Once I went into a branch (as I always did to make payments) and the teller REFUSED to take my payment because it was more than the balance! Since then I usually mail in my payments. Anyway, Chase is still accepting logins via Brave so I use that now for them (and TidBITS TALK).
I’ve never tried paying in person. I mailed my payments until about 13 years ago when I started using the bill-pay system from the bank holding my checking account. Today, manually schedule a payment when the bill arrives, scheduling it for payment 2 days before the due date.
When I go on vacation, I always travel with my laptop, so I can check my charges, receive my bills and schedule payments as usual.
