I’m experiencing a confusing annoyance in Apple Mail since going to MacOS 2026. I’m now on the .01 upgraded version. At the bottom of the right hand column with all the mailboxes and folders there is a Downloading Messages announcement that only grows. It is now at 788. Above the announcement there is a “thermometer” like bar that doesn’t fill, but, instead, has darker grey bounce from one end of the bar to the other. This seems wacky. Any suggestions about how to stop the annoyance? I do seem to be getting all the mail I expect plus the usual junk. I have Gmail and Exchange accounts active and an empty iCloud account. Here’s a pic where the count has grown by 1.
PS I am referring to the “left hand column.” Sorry to mix it up.
Yes, I have noticed this since upgrading. What always fixes it is to quit mail and re-open the app. It must be a weird bug of some sort, because I don’t recall that behavior in Sequoia (and it’s not happening on my iMac still on Sonoma.)
What a simple fix! Thanks. Always good to have one fewer annoyances.
Just FYI, I’m still having this issue on 26.1.
