Does anyone know what happened to Firefox Dynasty?

It seems to have vanished from GitHub,

Oh noes. It looks like the maintainer’s entire account ( https://github.com/i3roly/ ) got deleted.

I’d also love to know what happened.

According to this MacRumors thread:

  • There was apparently a mix-up where his version 147 release was actually a beta of version 148. But I doubt that would be enough to get your entire account shut down.
  • GitHub has shadow-ban algorithms. This has apparently happened to other projects, some of which have returned.
  • One user there created a new repo with the builds he has in his archive. I won’t share the link, since I don’t know if he can be trusted, but it’s there if you want to take a risk.

That having been said, I think it might have been at the request of Mozilla. They have a policy that unofficial builds/forks can not use any Firefox branding, but this package made no attempt to change any of it. He might have to keep it all off-line until he can change the name and icon throughout the application.

That all having been said, while looking for an alternative, I noticed that Pale Moon still exists. Its minimum requirement is Mac OS X 10.7. It forked from Mozilla many years ago, but they are still putting out releases (version 34.0.1. is dated January 22, 2026). I have no idea how well it works, but I may have to give it a try.

From the Pale Moon web site:

“We do not accept any form of cryptocurrency.”

+1 from me.

Just curious…why? Do you feel the same about, say, Venmo?

I hate to see this. Dynasty is working perfectly for me on my High Sierra and Mojave Macs that will not be “upgraded” because I need them to run CS6.

I don’t agree with the premise with which crypto was set up, and I don’t trust a lot of the people using it. I don’t have a problem with Venmo but I don’t use it. I do use Paypal. I don’t mind you asking but I don’t want to belabor the point in this thread about browsers.
