Sonny Software has released Bookends 15.4.3 with an improved PDF display focus view and an enhanced edit pane user interface. You can now open PDFs so the container fills the entire library window, overlaying the groups pane, reference list, and main toolbar (click the new focus icon in the PDF toolbar). The reference management tool also limits the edit pane’s height when it has a large amount of text, but adds a disclosure triangle to toggle the height of just the PDF container. In addition, the update enhances the appearance of group pane badges, adds a Search Bookends option to the Services menu, ensures the EndNote XML import parser ignores a field if the identical metadata has already been imported, improves performance of the MCP server tools, fixes a bug in the MCP server where trying to update some references fields resulted in an error, and resolves an issue where opening a PDF with the Finder’s default reader could select the wrong app. ($74.99 new with a 25% discount for TidBITS members, free update, 143.9 MB, release notes, macOS 11+)
