Best way of using TidBITS Talk from an iPhone?

I tried to post a discussion topic here last night while in bed, but really couldn’t. When I tried to login from Safari it kept telling me I was missing a Captcha check but there was no Captcha. I got in via PasswordWallet but the editing was horrible. I couldn’t move the cursor around to fix typos, etc. I tried finally to post my message but there was no post button!

I thought I had lost it all, but was happy to see it was saved as a draft when I came in via my MBP.

But is there a good way to post here on an iPhone? Thanks.

I do 99% of my posting here using the Arc browser. Works great.

On an iPhone? I have no problems using Chrome to post here on my Mac.

Yes on an iPhone. I thought that was implied by the thread title. :)

I wonder why iOS Safari wouldn’t work then.

iOS Safari has worked for me on talk.TidBITS.com for years.

Specifically ,what doesn’t work for you?

I’ve noticed that content/ad blockers somtimes interefere with things like captcha and website function. In those cases I turn them all off and usually then succeed.

When I try to login it says I failed on the Captcha. But I don’t see a Captcha anywhere.

I have no content/ad blockers installed on my iPhone…

What about Safari settings?

There shouldn’t be any issues with using TidBITS Talk from the iPhone since Discourse is highly responsive on small screens. Most people just make a Home Screen icon for the site in Safari or use a bookmark.

There is a standalone DiscourseHub app, but the user experience is the same, so I’m not sure why anyone would use it now that notifications work for websites on the iPhone.

All that said, we’re struggling with some login issues (and especially password reset) in WordPress right now, which could be related. Spambots continue to create 50-100 accounts per day, which is why things like the CAPTCHA are needed (even if they’re not solving the problem entirely). So it’s likely that most of your issues were related to login.

I use the DiscourseHub app on both iPhone and iPad. Works really well.

Thanks for that information. I just installed the app and it works beautifully. I’m replying using the app right now. Everything that doesn’t work via Safari works very well via the app.
