I discovered this above display a few nights ago when I absolutely by accident turned my iphone 16 pro running 18.7.8 while sitting on the couch. The time was a few minutes past 10 PM local time. For the record, the iphone goes from light to dark automatically at sunset.
You can guess where this is going. I must have touched SOMETHING and now when I place the phone on its side, a generic analog clock with just two hands showing, no numbers, no second hand, and no calendar show up. No amount of swiping gets me to the above display.
I have piddled and paddled and mucked around trying to recreate that screen to no avail.
I have tried Internet searches but I must be not using the right words so nothing is coming up.
Can someone PLEASE suggest what actions I need to take to recreate that screen at night when I place the phone on its side and go to sleep. What I am unsure of completely, but believe that screen shows up after I lock the phone and turn it on its side. But I could be wrong.
Yes. It needs to be plugged in to charge, too. It’s a nighttime display turn8mg your phone into a clock. Once it is displaying that, you can swipe left and right to enable different displays. There are several.
I like this mode so much I bought several small stands so I can keep my phone on its side while traveling and at home. It’s great.
But you’re correct that it’s a little finicky. It does not engage instantly — it takes a few seconds. So you have to leave it on its side and wait for that mode to turn on, making it hard to find and reproduce by accident.
And I am absolutely failing on how to get this desktop to populate with the calendar and a current analog clock display. For the record, the iPhone 16 is plugged in and display is “always on” and background is dark between sunset and sunrise.
And, I have scrolled thru each graphic to see if by chance what I am wanting is “behind” what currently is being displayed. Negative result.
And I looked at “notifications” for both clock and calendar and cannot see anything obvious that would have either item display.
And on wallpaper, I have tried to customize it by selecting an analog clock for the widget but I cannot seem to remove that larger digital clock display. In either case, it does not change what I am seeing when the phone is locked, powered and on its side.
For display: Raise to wake is off, AlwaysOn Display is on and so is show wallpaper and show notifications.
I use StandBy mode every night. I think what the OP is describing is a bug of some kind. I’ve seen a similar display when it was nowhere near 10:10. Note that 10:10 is a fairly standard time used when a clock is displayed in an advertisement etc.
