1Password for Safari 8.11.8 update not working

After I updated 1Password for Safari to 8.11.8 via the App Store today, the browser extension no longer opens in Safari (MacBook Pro 2019 16 inch; Sequoia 15.6.1; Safari 18.6; 1Password 1Password for Mac 8.11.8 81108040, on production channel).

The 1Password icon is not displayed in the Safari toolbar and does not appear among the icons that can be moved into the toolbar.

I have tried restarting the computer and also restarting in safe mode.

The browser extension works fine in Firefox and Chrome.

I contacted 1Password support but haven’t heard back yet.

I just updated. It is still in the Safari toolbar and seems to be working fine for me.

Thanks for this info.

In the meantime, I have followed the instructions at the following link to no avail:
https://support.1password.com/missing-browser-button/

I think my next step will be reinstalling 1Password.

Update:

I reinstalled 1Password and also Sequoia 15.6.1, but the problem remains.

For what it’s worth, I notice that in Safari > Settings > Extensions, if I turn 1Password for Safari on and off via the check box, a grayed-out version of the 1Password icon is displayed momentarily in the Safari toolbar, then disappears.

Also, in 1Password > Settings > Browser, if I click Add Browser and select Safari, a message says, “That application didn’t work. The selected application was signed in an unsupported way or may be missing a required identifier.”

I can add Firefox and Chrome with no problem though.

Any ideas gladly accepted.

Problem solved.

The quick and easy solution was just to uninstall and reinstall the 1Password for Safari extension.

I would have done that in the first place, but I misread the instructions.

(I thought I would have to uninstall 1Password desktop app and wasn’t sure how to do it and still preserve my data, so I was putting it off as a last resort.)
