Uh oh - airpods pro update and disconnects

I was listening to NPR while walking the dogs this morning, and annoyingly my airpods pro disconnected briefly, multiple times. Now I see that the new firmware is out, so I checked and I do have 7A294, the version released yesterday.

I’m not sure exactly when the update hit my airpods, but yesterday evening I also had a completely spontaneous outgoing phone call - I have no idea what triggered it. But this is not looking good for the new firmware.

I’ve restarted my iphone to see if that will help. Time will tell - but is anyone else seeing odd behavior with the new airpod pro firmware?

Mine were updated this morning, listened to podcasts and phone calls whilst connected to phone and also TV whilst connected to iPad and no issues whatsoever.

No luck for me, I’m on my 3rd day of random, fairly frequent disconnects. My current guess is that it has something to do with adaptive noise cancellation, so I’ll try turning that off for a while to see if it helps.

This is almost certainly a problem with adaptive noise cancelation after the last firmware update, external noise will sometimes cause the Airpod Pros to disconnect from the phone (making it unlikely that anyone will experience the problem while in a relatively quiet environment). Other people have started reporting it on Apple discussions - another symptom is an unbalanced noise cancelation (more pronounced in one ear).

And there are new firmware updates today, so see if the latest helps.

The difference was immediately noticeable. Problem gone.
