Path Finder 26.0

Originally published at: https://tidbits.com/watchlist/path-finder-26/

Cocoatech has released Path Finder 26 (jumping from the previous version 11), a major upgrade to the file browser alternative to the macOS Finder with a visual and structural redesign. The app has been made more resource-efficient, and the full file browser window now boasts a cleaner, more compact layout, full-height vertical shelves, an updated toolbar, and modernized icons. The update improves all three view types (Icons, List, Columns) with faster rendering and better grouping, redesigns all modules for the new shelves design with easier placement and manipulation, and improves the Preview module with better QuickLook support and large file handling. It also adds an operation for comparing two folders, enables finding duplicated files within selected folders, fixes a large number of issues and potential crashes, and updates localizations for all 20 currently supported languages. Version 26 is a paid upgrade but is free to use for one year for those who purchased a Path Finder license less than one year ago. Cocoatech offers an automatically renewing $29.95 annual subscription, as well as three standalone license periods of 1 year ($32.95), 2 years ($55.95), or 5 years ($122.95). ($29.95 anual subscription, in Setapp, 19.4 MB, release notes, macOS 10.13+)

I use Path Finder more than the Finder. This is welcome news since Path Finder had not been upgraded in what seems like ages.
