Default Folder X 6.3.3

Originally published at: Default Folder X 6.3.3 - TidBITS

Since updating Default Folder X to version 6.3 with support for macOS 27 Golden Gate, St. Clair Software has issued a few maintenance updates. Version 6.3.1 corrected a bug in Golden Gate that would immediately open a folder in a Save dialog when it was merely clicked, ensured pop-up menus in Save dialogs worked properly in Golden Gate, and made sure pinning and unpinning recent items in a topmost menu worked correctly. Version 6.3.2 resolved a conflict that could make it impossible to select from pop-up menus in Save dialogs when Apple’s Weather icon was showing in the menu bar, and improved the appearance and behavior of the drag target when dragging files in the Finder.

The most recent 6.3.3 release revisits the fix for pop-up menu failures in the previous version, which broke Save dialogs in macOS 12 Monterey and earlier, and makes sure the revised fix works on all systems. The update also adds a workaround for a Golden Gate issue that could prevent Default Folder X from working in apps based on the Qt cross-platform library, such as FreeCAD and WaveLab. To enable it, hold Option while choosing Settings from the Default Folder X menu, then turn on the “Work around macOS 27 process ID bug” option.
