Out-of-control "Undo" in iPad Mail

Occasionally when I am reviewing emails on my iPad, I get an unintended “undo move” popup. This can happen when I am unaware of any shaking of the iPad, or any other action that should cause an “Undo” dialog. (But the same problem can occur if I intentionally want to “Undo”.) If I stop and think, I will choose “Cancel”, but every once in a while I forget and hit “Undo.” Some of these times, the iPad does not just undo the last “move to trash,” but instead undoes EVERY move I have done for weeks, or even months. This brings back everything I have trashed and every email I have moved to another folder. This happened 2 days ago and moved back every change I had made since the 1st of the year. Very annoying - took hours to (hopefuully) restore.

Has this happened to anybody else? Any way to prevent this? Or to more speedily recover when it does happen?

I don’t know about the multiple undo actions - I’ve never seen that - but is there any chance that you are inadvertently double-tapping with three fingers, or swiping left with three fingers? Both are undo gestures, and both can be turned off in settings / multitasking & gestures (“Productivity Gestures”), as can shake to undo.

Maybe clean out the trash every week or month?

This happened to me last week when I three-finger-swiped to undo a single move to the trash. At least 300 items from the prior 72 hours came back to the inbox from Trash and other folders, and about 30+ had their future reminders undone. Nothing like redoing three days of triage. At least it didn’t appear to have unsent anything. (: Best not happen again; I’m prone to throwing things.

I guess it is a relief to know this is not just happening to me, but I really need to find a way to prevent this from happening in the future. Using “undo” is occasionally very helpful, but I find myself afraid to do it. Also, of course, there are times when I do it instinctively, without even thinking about it.
