Suddenly Most Email Goes to Junk Folder

I get a couple hundred emails every day. 10-20% typically go to my junk folder. Suddenly, today, 80-90% are going to my junk mail folder, including many from entities from which I receive mail regularly, always before in my regular inbox. Is this happening to anybody else? What could cause this?

Not happening for me (Macbook/Sequoia).Just checked my junk folder and it is as expected (junk!).

Maybe try rebuilding your Mailbox?

Otherwise a reboot should clear caches that may be corrupted.

No change in my Mail App junk handling as of now (Mac 26.4). SpamSieve is in use for a couple of months but doesn’t seem to have much effect, maybe I didn’t train it right. I might get only 20 emails in a day, though, from Apple and 3rd party email accounts.

@m3cutl3r , are you referring to the Apple Mail App on a Mac, and Apple mail accounts? Or an iDevice, other mail providers, any spam software in use or just plain old Mail App? etc.

OMG!!! This happened to me yesterday! On my IPad Air 5, I was reading the email in my Inbox on an Xfinity/Comcast App. I stopped to answer the phone. When I came back my WHOLE inbox was empty!!! (I am an email packrat! I had several 100 read email in my Inbox. Important ones were marked as unread (bold text) so they were easy to find. All gone!)

I mark as unread (bold text) any spam email before I send to the Spam folder. All email in that folder have bold text and the folder has a “count number”. After I panicked, I checked the trash. Not there. I didn’t even think about the Spam folder because all of the email there were unread –read ones don’t show up in the “count”. So when I opened the Spam folder, there were my read and unread (bold text) email! And, of course, Tidbits was there, too! When I sent the emails that belonged in my Inbox back, I clicked on the NOT SPAM. But I don’t know if the damage is done so those emails will be considered “spam”. (I hope this all makes sense when you read it! Adam, is my email on the spam list?)

Yes, this happens occasionally, mostly from certain (changing) groups of senders.

what causes mail to enter Junk? iPadOS or iOS Mail? My ISP (not using Apple’ s ISP)?

I have definitely never marked anything that goes in there as spam or junk in any way, and some are very important.

Looks to me like this is a berserk spam filter. I saw this when my web provider wrote their own spam filter and screwed up badly, which I think slipped by me initially because it was on vacation. Who is managing your email and do you have a separate spam filter not provided by the wep provider or mail server? Start with them and tell them your problem.
