MagSafe Photo Case Advice Sought

The primary factor that is preventing my wife from replacing her ancient iPhone XR is the fact that her current case has a photo of our dearly-departed dog (the same photo she’s had on cases going back to her iPhone 4). But she really should get a MagSafe case (since any iPhone we get will have it, and I want her to be able to use the accessories I use) – and it must have that photo (this is non-negotiable).

Last year I found a photo case on Amazon for my 90 year-old mother (she had a similar intent). That one on Amazon claimed to be MagSafe (or "MagSafe compatible), but the magnet wasn’t even strong enough for the iPhone to remain on a stand (Mom didn’t care, so she kept it – I was miffed).

Lesson learned: Instead of relying on manufacturer claims (or posted reviews), I am turning to the reliable TidBITS community to get real-world experience.

Does anyone have (or know of) a MagSafe photo case that actually works as a MagSafe case?

Thank you.

Gelaskins allows you to upload your own photo and they will make a case from it, and their cases are now MagSafe.

I’ve used a non-MagSafe case, one with pre-printed art work (not an uploaded photo) from them for my old 13 pro, and it was fine.

Thank you, Doug. I’ll look at that. But since I was burned by a claim of MagSafe once before, I would really like to hear from people in this community who can attest that a a case is truly MagSafe-compatible.

I can confirm that the Smartish Gripmunk case works fine with MagSafe and lets you add a photo.

Fantastic. I didn’t see any mention of photo in the article, but the “Smartish Design Studio” allows one to upload a photo – perfect.

Thank you,
Steve
