Live mode file size in iPhone shots

While marching with the Bainbridge Island Land Trust in the July 4th parade I decided to take photos of spectators in their colorful costumes as we went past. Because I could not stop to carefully compose a shot and their expressions and gestures were often changing I decided to use the “live” mode in my iPhone 17 Pro and later selected the best shots in the stream captured, with the setting in RAW as usual.

But comments on the Web say that if you select anything other than the primary shot it will be lower resolution. It’s true that any shot saved as a jpeg from a live stream is lower resolution than a standard single shot, but changing my choice to an alternative shot within the same live stream didn’t seem to result in any loss of detail. Have things changed recently?

I also kept some of the live exposures as video clips where the action was useful.
