I have been using Arc on a 2017 iMac running Ventura for about three years without any problems, but recently I have noticed some strange behaviour. I use Arc in a Space reserved for browsers, and now when I launch another browser, the browser will launch but no browser window appears, and trying to open a new window from the menubar doesn’t work either (although the browser will work normally in any other Space). The same happens when trying to access any apps from the menubar in the Space reserved for browsers, and I can’t access the Settings window for Arc either: Mission Control shows that the Settings window is there, but clicking on it brings the main window of Arc to the fore.
Essentially, Arc is not allowing any other window to appear on top of its main window. Is there any way to fix this behaviour, or will I need to ditch Arc (or get a new computer)?
I can’t quite follow all your Space-related details, but that’s where I’d focus my troubleshooting. It’s not entirely clear what should happen when apps open new windows and they’re in a Space by themselves, so I could imagine various oddities occurring.
I use Arc in Sequoia (not in full screen) and Tahoe (in full screen) and it’s fine.
I probably didn’t explain it very well, but basically Arc is preventing the windows of any other applications from appearing on top of its main window. This started happening only a couple of weeks ago, and I am wondering whether a recent update to Arc could have done something to cause this.
Is Arc possibly running in full-screen mode from its assigned space? I never use that mode personally, but trying it just now sort of looks like what you’re describing.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I just discovered that for some reason Window > Stay On Top had been selected. My apologies for causing a lot of fuss about nothing.
