iPad keyboard missing .com .net .org etc

Ever since the upgrade to iPadOS 26, the keyboard is missing the top level domain shortcuts that normally appear when you hold down ‘.’ Apparently the bug only affects the 11” and smaller models. Also if you reduce the normal keyboard to a floating mini keyboard, the shortcuts appear again, except it’s a pain to use. Sadly the bug persists under 26.1.

I don’t suppose anyone has found a fix?

I wish I had an answer, but I have an 11” Air M3 and I have used this many times on iPadOS 26 since I installed it. It’s not missing for me (of course at appropriate times, when a web page is asking for an email address, for example.)

I have not experienced this bug but a restart and swapping between portrait and landscape fixed a different keyboard bug for me.

Interesting. I have an iPad Pro 11” 4th generation. I’ve tried restarts, deleting and adding keyboards etc. to no avail. Very frustrating.

I’ve seen this bug mentioned a few times on the Apple forums, but without any solutions.

Just to be clear, this keyboard shortcut only works when the keyboard shows the special keyboard for entering email addresses or in the address bar in Safari, when a period shows to the right of the space bar. Macobserver has a good article about this: https://www.macobserver.com/news/a-hidden-ios-shortcut-holding-the-period-key-reveals-domain-extensions/

Ok, I see it now, but only in the address bar. If I go to, say, Amazon dot com and then log in, the proper keyboard with the long-press on the period key for the domain extension shortcuts shows and works when it prompts for my email address.
