iOS 26.4 to get new emojis

I have lost count of how many times I’ve seen some version of this headline (Apple via. MacWorld this time):

iOS 26.4 beta 4 is out now with new emojis

New emojis? That is just pathetic.

It’s pretty much standard practice, since the Unicode Consortium has an annual cycle for reviewing and approving new emoji proposals, and companies like Apple then take some time to develop artwork for each one.

I’m not offended that Apple adds them or mentions that it has done so, but I am annoyed that many other changes in operating system updates that would also impact users go unmentioned.

If you want to propose a new emoji that embodies your opinion of the entire system, the next cycle starts in April.

I think these are going to be the best emoji ever. Unlike the MacBook Neo that is a complete failure and dud, these new emoji are going to change the way we view technology. And the future. Forget about iPhone emergency messaging over satellites, these new emoji are going to save lives!!!

I agree, I’d like to see those listed, in long, boring detail, right after “new emojis”. To the emojis’ credit, though, they do have a higher potential of getting “the masses” to apply the update than some mundane list of bug fixes. Especially when security issues are addressed, if the goal is to get as many people as possible to just click “update”, Emojis FTW.
