It is not possible (as far as I would surmise) that the batteries in all 5 of my devices are dead.
A couple were swapped out only a month ago … none of my devices can be found despite being right next to the phone, and despite being detected a half hour ago, or so.
I tried a forced restart on the phone, to know avail.
Please advise on what I am missing … is this simply a coincidence of 5 dead batteries?
Here’s a 15 min update. Swapped in two with new batteries, chirped fine, found fine, 5 min later iPhone cannot reach the devices again. Faulty iOS, or failing tag?
That’s a huge fail for Google, since I would have assumed that it was doing a search and building the answer from that. All the chatbots will have trouble with data that appeared after their training data was locked, usually 12-18 months before. With ChatGPT, I occasionally see it answering incorrectly without having performed a search, and when I instruct it to “Confirm with a search,” it retrieves the correct information.
It’s one of the reasons that running LLMs locally doesn’t excite me all that much—nearly everything I talk to a chatbot about needs to refer to world knowledge, much of it recent.
Not to belabor things, but could this have been a random fail of Find My due to Apple server glitches yesterday?… While I thought the app worked locally via blue tooth, perhaps wi-fi internet check in is required
I didn’t test at home this morning but as of now, at work all devices reachable
