File deduplication - Tidy Up vs Duplicate File Finder vs Cisdem etc

I’d say a great deal of caution is always called for when using any duplicate remover–making sure you have adequate backups, etc. I’d also be extra careful trying to remove duplicates using a 3rd party tool for files stowed under systems other than the Finder, such as Mail, Photos, Music, DevonThink, EagleFiler, etc.–so careful, in fact, that I personally would avoid doing it as much as possible.

My large scale duplicate removals have been restricted to files stowed only under the Finder, and even then, on a carefully selected basis, limiting scope as much as possible.

For anyone still looking for further duplicate analysis tools, I just came across Duplicate Detective. I’ve not used it, so this isn’t a recommendation, but might be of interest…

Gemini is in Setapp, BTW.

Of course it’s in SetApp since MacPaw, based in Kyiv, is the developer of both of them.

Both being which, Gemini and…?

AFAICT, MacPaw only make Gemini, hence me mentioning it being in Setapp.

I think @aforkosh means that MacPaw is the developer of both Gemini and SetApp itself, so they will ‘of course’ include their own app in SetApp.
