Can't send email

I’ve a 2019 MacBook Pro running Sequoia and Mail 16.0. It stopped sending email a few days ago. I took into a shop and was told I have lot of apps and dead files and thus possible conflicts. I eliminated a lot with Clean my Mac. Problem persists. Shop didn’t look at Console, which looks at 2-3 minutes of text and spots errors in Mail functions. I can’t decipher the 592kb document.

This issue was mentioned on Macintouch:

To summarize: Michael Tsai ran into this bug, as well as one of his SpamSieve customers. Nothing to do with “lots of apps and dead files” etc.; it’s a bug, and it may (or may not) have something to do with Apple Intelligence features in Mail.

The MiT article included a link to a well-written and illustrated MacRumors article on how to restore a simple Inbox in Apple Mail. (That is, how to revert from categories, profile pictures, and prioritized listings.) It might be helpful to some folks even though it’s been mentioned on TBTalk previously.

Thanks to a tip here, I turned off spellchecking when I start to end the message. End of problem.
