Another monitor to pair with my 27” Studio monitor

I could swear this was covered somewhere in TidBITS but I currently have the Apple Studio Monitor with an adjustable stand. As I do a lot of photography, I have found that having a second monitor (same size) would be helpful. I thought there was a discussion on this but am unable to find it now. Any recommendations for a cheaper than Studio monitor that can hold up against the main monitor in terms of resolution, color depth and if it could run off of the Thunderbolt of the Studio, that would be great.

Thanks for any info.

I read that as you want a 27" 5K screen that has an adjustable stand and can be attached via TB. Right now, these would be the screens I’d be looking at (full disclosure: the Asus 5K 27" is the screen I’m typing this on right now). At the end, I linked to a review I remembered. I’m sure there’s more out there.

Asus $634

BenQ $920

ViewSonic $930

LG $1199

or the older (and more expensive)

You will probably find useful info at Compare 5K & 6K Mac Monitors (2026) | RetinaDesk

I think this site was mentioned here a little while back.

This might be the discussion you are thinking of. The title is a little misleading as the discussion is mainly about using an external monitor with a Mac Mini or Macbook.
