1Password introduces a native macOS autoFill experience

Oops, I didn’t read your message closely enough.

I think there are two recent, unrelated changes to 1Password:

  1. Password fill button is at top of browser page, instead of next to the field being filled
  2. 1Password provides a password extension for macOS, like the one it has for iOS

If you enable the “new experience” it turns on the macOS extension, which means that anywhere you can enter a password, you should have the option to use 1Password to look it up.

I was saying that I don’t think the new password extension works as well as 1Password’s native browser integration. But I need to look closer to see if you get both: use macOS integration or native 1Password, on any web page.

I haven’t found that to be true. For me it has been working like a Shortcut automation: click the tile, and it cycles through username, password, and if needed 2FA without further intervention. This is in my experience an improvement over the old experience, where in the most infuriating cases I’d be presented with sequential pages for username, password, and 2FA, and have to go up to the menubar each time to retrieve the wanted information from the 1PW menu.

I was talking about the change to use 1Password as a macOS password provider.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I keep forgetting about the “free” competition!
