Would it be difficult to auto-nuke comments with links to Amazon that also contain an affiliate code? That seems like a pretty safe “rule” to go by.

Looks like it. And you can use AI spam detection, which can be customized to look for these kinds of posts.

Please consider removing the “probably.” These read like the cheapest AI copy-paste available to, well, anyone.

I shudder to think that TidBITS may soon have to require us all to prove we’re real humans before posting.

There already is a Cloudflare check on TBT…all that’s missing (at least for most users, I assume, because I only encounter the check-box test) is the CAPTCHA image-matching test. But given how easy it is for scammers to create agents and bots these days, I wouldn’t be surprised if more defensive measures appear here…

Thanks for those links—I’ve turned on the AI spam detection in the AI plugin, and we’ll see what that captures. If we see more of those affiliate spams, I can look into identifying them by URL.
