What a Broken Wrist Taught Me About iOS 27 Dictation and macOS Voice Control

Gute Besserung @ace ! Take care of self first, pop in here when you can and quite probably the TBTers will mind their manners!

Thanks. I now recognize what I missed earlier: Adam used the italicized “phrase” not as a a word, but instead to represent a hypothetical phrase. I would probably have opted to use two different actual phrases (e.g., “Replace In these treble times with In these troubled times”), but that’s just a different writer’s approach. My initial reading led me to presume that his example might have been something along the lines of “Replace phrase with phase” — only to have had it misheard by the iOS Dictation software. :man_shrugging:

As someone who broke front teeth long ago and finally got implants a few years back, I am SOOOOO glad that your new teeth were okay!

Quick healing to you.

Sorry to hear of your accident Adam, and best wishes for a speedy recovery. My biking accident was overbraking to avoid hitting jaywalking pedestrians who suddenly appeared from in front of a panel truck that was stopped in a line of traffic waiting for a light (decidedly not at a crosswalk). Went over the handlebars and landed on helmet and left shoulder, head fine (yes, yes, to wearing helmets) but 3rd degree left acromioclavicular sprain (separated shoulder) that required surgery - fortunately I’m right handed. While retrograde amnesia might explain why you can’t remember why you fell, as a retired ED doc I would also be quite concerned about the reasons for the two falls absent any memory of a physical cause, especially without any major head injury. So good for your doctor — and you — for pursuing cardiology and neurology followup. Hopefully nothing will turn up that’s worrisome, but definitely worth doing.

First off, thanks for all the kind words from everyone! I really appreciate it, especially as the recovery has not been as instantaneous as I would have preferred. I’m still needing to rest and sleep a lot more than normal.

Great stories, thanks. The ElliptiGO is a great machine, and it’s very easy to ride because we balance better standing up than sitting down. But it very much does require balancing so it may not be the best option at almost 80. I’m sure I’ll feel better about it soon, but I have to admit that I was contemplating some sort of recumbent trike where balance wouldn’t come into play.

I did intend what I wrote, and @silbey’s interpretation is correct, but I can see where there would be confusion. I’ll add a number to each one now.
