It is time to put 2024 in the rearview mirror with our final email issue of TidBITS for the year. I’ll keep an eye on what’s happening for the rest of the week and continue to participate in TidBITS Talk, but after that, I encourage you to join me in taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the tech world.
The next issue of TidBITS will appear on 6 January 2025, when we’ll start another year of helping you keep up with your ever-changing Apple devices and services, work more efficiently and productively, and find delight in the magic of today’s technologies.
At this time of year, Tonya and I always reflect on what it is we’re doing with TidBITS and why, and how grateful we are to the people who make TidBITS possible:
- TidBITS members: A heartfelt thank you to the generous 3550 individuals who support us through the TidBITS membership program! Your support is essential, and it means a lot to us that you appreciate our efforts to bring you practical and useful information.
- TidBITS sponsors: While most of our revenue comes from TidBITS members, we are also grateful to the corporate sponsors who provided financial support in 2024. They include TextExpander, whose text expansion utility aids individuals and teams alike; Art Authority Museum, which has distilled a vast and ever-increasing art collection into a Vision Pro app; and Listen Later, an innovative service that converts text articles into AI-narrated episodes of a custom podcast.
- Contributing editors and staff: Tonya and I are continually thankful for the highly competent and amiable assistance of Agen Schmitz, Glenn Fleishman, Michael Cohen, Jeff Carlson, Rich Mogull, Julio Ojeda-Zapata, and Lauri Reinhardt. You’re all fabulous.
- Guest authors: Funding from TidBITS members enables us to commission outside articles. This year, we particularly appreciated Josh Centers, Jeff Porten, David Shayer, and Marc Zeedar, who brought new perspectives and stories to TidBITS. We look forward to more articles from them and others. If you want to write an article, get in touch!
- Translators: Our gratitude goes out to the diligent volunteers who translate TidBITS into Dutch and Japanese each week and distribute their translations to over 1500 people who prefer reading in their native languages. Both teams are always looking for more volunteers, so if you’re looking for a new hobby with warmhearted colleagues, see “New Dutch and Japanese Translators Wanted!” (13 November 2020).
- The TidBITS community: For many people, our vibrant TidBITS Talk forum has become the go-to place to ask Apple-related questions and contribute answers from your experience and expertise. Although our SlackBITS chat group doesn’t see as much traffic, we enjoy having oodles of TidBITS readers join us there to watch and comment on live Apple events.
- Readers like you: Finally, even if you haven’t become a TidBITS member, left a comment, or participated in TidBITS Talk, we still very much appreciate that you’ve taken the time out of your busy life to read what we write. That’s what’s most important.
Thank you, one and all, and here’s hoping that you and your loved ones are happy and healthy throughout 2025!
