SoundSource 5.8.11

Originally published at: SoundSource 5.8.11 - TidBITS

Rogue Amoeba has released SoundSource 5.8.11 to update the audio handling ARK plugin (version 12.3.5) to address a rare crash. The audio control utility now better captures initial portions of audio (resolving issues that could occur with short sounds such as sound effects), prevents audio hiccups when the system’s output device changes, correctly displays selection states of parameters for actions in the Shortcuts app, and enlarges the clickable area for muting via menu bar icons. Pardon the newbie question–I’m just a cave man.

I’m this close to buying some Rogue Amoeba programs to add some zing to audio interview recordings, and my home Apple products include the newest Mac mini, an iPhone 16, but also a MBP from 2020 (Intel inside) and an even older iMac (first of the Retinas!). How do I install and run on these machines that [I think] would need different versions, and how do I avoid paying for a program multiple times?

I’ve got good news for you — sounds like a current license will unlock previous “legacy” versions.
