Rogue Amoeba has issued SoundSource 5.7.2 with a new Excluded Applications list to help troubleshoot issues and incompatibilities. Found in the Audio tab of the Settings window, the feature stops SoundSource from adjusting volume or applying audio effects to an app added to the list. The audio control utility updates the ARK audio-handling plugin to version 12.0.6 to prevent unintended auto-switching to AirPods, avoid leaking non-stereo channels to Apple Studio Displays, and fix a bug that unexpectedly muted secondary device channels. The release also improves the experience when using Bluetooth audio devices (including AirPods), reduces the app’s CPU usage, works as expected with Apple’s Screen Sharing app, makes improvements to speed up sample rate changes and switching devices, no longer unnecessarily captures audio from hidden devices, and rectifies an issue where SoundSource could mute all channels of a multi-channel device.
