“Sorry, there was a problem with Apple Music” Is sometimes associated with Homepods that are default audio output for an Apple TV. If there are several users they each need to switch to their profile on the Apple TV and open the Music app. This only needs to be done once (sometimes after OS updates).
This tip is mainly for an error message about agreeing to terms and conditions but it seems to have addressed the occasional “Sorry, there was a problem with Apple Music” error in our household.
Another possible cause is the “Primary User” setting in the Homepod settings that are managed via the Home app (on iOS devices or Mac). I find it best to set myself as a primary user instead of the (default?) Homepod Account.
Finally the Personal Requests Homepod setting can cause confusion if Siri does not reliably recognise your voice.

I’m the sole user.

I’m the primary user on all the HomePods

No issues with Siri recognizing my voice.
There is some issue with the Media Room HomePods. They do not play nice. For example telling the kitchen HomePod to move the currently playing music to the Office or Bedroome HomePod pair works reliably. Asking Siri to play in Media Room usually results in “sorry, berndt, I can’t play that in the Media Room”
Finally–and perhaps tangentially–a couple months ago my ATV4K began asking me regularly to sign in to my Apple account. Despite signing in and out of iCloud and then rebooting numerous time the problem persisted so I called Apple before resorting to a factory reset. The initial support tech seemed baffled by this and kicked me to a higher-grade tech who knew her stuff. After a couple of sign-in and reboot attempts she told me to sign out and in of the Store and the Game Center on the ATV4K. This resolved the issue. The problematic HomePods are paired to this ATV4K.
The HomePods required more trouble shooting than any other Apple device I’ve owned since the Mac was running PowerPC.
