Sequoia's Passwords app

A couple of weeks ago I updated to Sequoia and took the steps to export everything from 1Password to the Passwords app. I was somewhat dismayed at 1password going to a subscription and was keen to see how the Password app would compare.

I did a ‘Quit 1Password completely’ and have relied on Password app ever since. So far it has been remarkably seamless. It probably took about an hour to sort out duplicate/old logins after the original import but it was probably overdue for a cleanup anyway.

My only issue is with the family’s main bank account. 1Password allowed me to click a link and populated the username for me. I then had to enter the security code and a second Internet password it requires. Apple Passwords simply refuses to populate anything. It just means I have to copy the username (a series of numbers) and paste them in. Slightly inconvenient but not an incredible burden.

Count me as a happy camper with the passwords app. Hopefully it will mature into an even better option. I should also mention sharing between devices has been flawless so far.

How do you feel about the integration of Passwords into web browsers versus 1Password? And does Passwords work with browsers other than Safari?

My primary use of Passwords is with a web browser so everything I’ve said applies. I use Safari for 99.9% of browsing so haven’t had the need to test with anything else. I have Firefox installed so I’ll check it at some stage but only when required.

I’ve never used Chrome. For a while I had Chromium as my ‘reserve’ browser but I was never keen on it.

I use 1PW for more than passwords…so Apple’s offering is unusable for me. Still on v7 even though I have a sub that contains another backup copy of the vault.

I love Passwords and iCloud password syncing. The best part of it for me is that I can even have it supply my MFA tokens. No more 3rd party apps, no more getting phone out of pocket. All just one (or two) quick tap away on Touch ID. :+1: It’s one of these great little things, nobody else has (or if they do their implementation stinks), and it reminds me of the “just magic” Mac stuff from back in the day.
