Sad to see that Robert X Cringely died a week or so ago. I see an earlier post here that he had started blogging again after a long absence.
I didn’t know Mark Stephens (his real name), but I do remember watching Triumph of the Nerds and enjoying reading his articles in InfoWorld… (actually, my memory is that I read him in MacWeek, but the interwebs say I’m wrong).
I once had lunch with him in Seattle when he was on a book tour, since he was one of those people that I sort of knew via the Internet. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant that he paid for because he was on an expense account from his publisher, and he commented that I was a cheap date.
