Responding to COVID-19, Apple Closes All Stores Outside China

Apple has issued a statement outlining its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the most notable new addition being the closure of all Apple retail stores outside of China.

And in the least surprising news of the day from Apple, the company now says that retail stores are now closed until further notice.

I enrolled in the Apple Card Customer Assistance Program. I don’t need it, but I figured “What the hey.” It was quick and painless, but be aware that your card may be disabled if you don’t pay off the balance at the end of the month, per the enrollment email I received.

You can re-enroll in the assistance program and have your payment delayed until the end of May. I successfully did that and am still using the card. That will also delay whatever payment you delayed for March as well.

Also, Apple is saying internally that their stores will be closed until at least early May.

Apple has extended the Apple Card assistance program another month. You will have to re-enroll again, but it’s a quick and easy process.

Also note that the assistance program isn’t cumulative. If you were enrolled in March, that payment was due in April, even if you re-enrolled in April. It just extends the deadline for each monthly payment by one month.
