PaperTrail - my native TaskPaper client for iOS/iPadOS

I’ve been really busy over the summer. Probably the most productive year of my life to date.

I just launched my latest game, built-in to the Comet web browser from Perplexity.

I’m still working on Dottie, my pixel art app.

And I’ve also created a native iOS/iPadOS TaskPaper client called PaperTrail.

TaskPaper is a format/spec for plain text todo/outline lists. It has support for tags of various types, group tasks by projects, search and filtering, plus shortcut keys to speed up working with your tasks and lists. There’s an official macOS app (it’s great) but no official iOS/iPadOS app.

So I made my own.

Out now!

Congratulations on making this progress and plugging this hole in the market! There was TaskAmator app; but I didn’t find that one very useful. I just use it on occasion for checking my todo list, not for editing it.

Thanks! That’s exactly the reason that pushed me to make this. Some improvements and changes coming soon to this, before getting ready for proper launch.

How does one collapse a section in your app?

Currently, one doesn’t.

Coming soon

Loving your app. I plan to write about it on my substack as a cognitive productivity aid.

Thank you! Please be aware price will increase at the end of the month

I’ve written on my substack about the importance of cognitive task lists, mentioning TaskPaper and PaperTrail as good plain text alternatives for keeping track of cognitive tasks.

I will write another article about using these two apps. Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve been using TaskPaper for most of my own task lists, though I still using OmniOutliner for meeting agenda items.
