Mouse/Trackpad left click not working correctly now

I just got a new MacStudio M4 Max, running Sequoia 15.7.1.

Finished setting it up and everything was going pretty well, there were a lot of app updates and re-registering of software.

Magic mouse and trackpad were both doing single left click as expected, but now you have to click and hold for menu dropdowns to work, tab clicks, etc. Right clicking keeps things open like they were before, but functionality of the mouse isn’’t right.

I’ve checked all the settings, tried deleting and re-pairing devices, ran Onyx, not sure what to do now. I guess I could try reinstalling MacOS, or upgrade to Tahoe but wanted to wait for Tahoe 26.1.

The last update I recall app wise was for Office 16.102.1. But who knows…

Any ideas? Much appreciated! I’d try deleting preferences, but not sure where to look.

In desperation I upgraded to Tahoe (had wanted to wait, oh well…) which didn’t fix the problem. At my wits end I asked AI how to reset mouse prefs in Mac OS Tahoe, it came back with this from OWC support site:

rm ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist

I pasted into Terminal then logged out and it worked, at least for a while! I’ve had to do this a couple times to keep mouse clicks working as expected, so not sure what else is going on…:man_shrugging:
