I guess. Their explanation to me about the webkit wasn’t entirely clear to me.
I’m not sure what to do. 4 days left on my trial. There are so many things I love about Mimestream! It’s quick. Labeling and archiving and going to labels works great!
There are also things I don’t like, such as this, the fact that “increase font size” just means “zoom in” which makes embedded images blurry.
I can see they did a lot of work on this. But I’m not sure what to do.
Out of curiosity, what other great email apps are there to try?
Outlook doesn’t support image annotation on Macs (though it does for Windows).
If I upgrade to Sonoma, I’ll lose my MsgFiler plugin
Spark also doesn’t support image annotation.
Mimestream is the one I like best so far, despite the price. On the other hand, I do subscribe to Office365 already, and Outlook looks pretty nice. But I can’t annotate images in it.
But I don’t think it supports image annotation. I did some quick web searching and didn’t find any description resembling that feature, nor did I notice an add-on to provide the feature.
I just tried Thunderbird yesterday for the first time in years. My account was still set up! This is after downloading the latest version. But you are correct, it doesn’t support image annotation. Neither does Gmail on the web.
Since you say you don’t usually use an app for email, what do you use? Something like Gmail on the web?
I guess the only real choices are Apple Mail and maybe Mimestream.
Apple Mail in Sonoma - easy mail filing (no), image annotations (yes)
Outlook - easy mail filing (yes), image annotations (no for the Mac version)
Mimestream - easy mail filing (yes), image annotations (yes)
I really am surprised that Apple Mail in Sonoma didn’t add easy mail filing when they did in iOS 17 Mail.
There are some awkward keyboard shortcuts for Apple Mail though: CMD+Shift+/ that opens up menus which can then be searched for filing. There were cautions about nested folders though. And I don’t think you can go to a mailbox that way.
Exactly. I have mail accounts with three companies (Google, mail.com and Yahoo). When I’m on a computer, I usually just use the web interfaces.
I do use Apple’s Mail app on my iPhone. And I use Outlook on Windows in order to access my work e-mail, since that’s my employer’s standard (and I don’t like the web version of Outlook, which is the only other mechanism.)
I had not heard of mail.com. I will check that out also. I actually own the domain me-ru.com (me-ru is mail in Japanese) but only use it for testing when I need extra addresses for something. I also have a yahoo.co.jp address but I basically never use it.
I’ve had some great news from Adam Tow, deverloper of MsgFiler. He has a new version (MsgFiler 4) that will work in Sonoma! It’s not released yet, but I hope soon.
In the meantime, I’m back in regular Mail on Ventura with MsgFiler 3 waiting.
