Is macOS Sequoia v15.7.1 good in 2020 13" Intel MBP?

Hello,

Since Apple and MS recently ended their supports for macOS Ventura
v13.7.8, I need to upgrade macOS. I’m not touching the new recent
version since it just came out and has many issues. Is macOS Sequoia
v15.7.1 good in 2020 13" Intel MBP?

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

I’d say it’s hard to say for sure without knowing more about what you use your MBP for and the software you rely on.

Watching videos, Office v16, web browsing, and other office tasks.

For the purposes you mentioned, performance should be fine.

In my experience, fan usage is more of an issue with newer versions of macOS on Intel machines than actual performance. Don’t panic if you have excessive fan usage for the first day or so after upgrading as Spotlight indices are getting built and other background tasks associated with the upgrade are completing.

By the way, the Sequoia 15.7.2 “release candidate” is out for testing now, so the official final version of 15.7.2 should be coming pretty soon.

OK. I did the upgrade. It changed the old screen saver, login screen, forgot my email account password in Mail app, and unable to upgrade Office for Mac installation due to “Download error…” in MS AutoUpdate app ( Unable to upgrade Office for Mac installation due to “Download error…” in MS AutoUpdate app for its thread). I wonder what else broke. Ugh. Yep, its fan was louder than usual, but that’s normal. IIRC, older macOS version (e.g., Ventura) warned the user about it. Did I miss it? :(

Oh, I need to get used to that clicking on desktop to hide and unhide opened apps. I’m not sure if I really like it. At least, user can turn it off.

Trustd, mds_stores, and other processes sure love to go crazy to cook MBP and be louder after logging into macOS. Ugh! Shouldn’t this be done after a week?
