Update: Somehow this fixed itself, maybe on an update since April.
Somewhere in the last months I assigned the lower left Lock Screen button to Alarms. For a while tapping-and holding that led to unlocking and the main clock page, where I’d tap the Alarms tab.
Just in the last few days, without knowingly applying any update recently, I noticed that tapping that button led directly, as I’d grown accustomed to, to the Alarms. One click-n-hold access to Alarm setting! A revolutionary reversion to a good old method!
Ahoy! now I just added Alarms back to Control Center and it works there too!
(oh, I was so happy I almost forgot to set an alarm for tomorrow!)
in recent weeks, without being aware of making any software updates or any other related software changes, iOS 26.1 is now often requiring unlocking to simply turn wifi or VPN off/on from the Control Centre.
I say ‘often’ as it’s not consistent. I have a Shortcut to lock the screen (I’m usually around home so auto lock is set for a longer period; if out and about I use the Shortcut after using iPhone). I can invoke it and wait a few heartbeats and tap wifi in control center and it might or might not ask to unlock. If iPhone sits unused some hours or overnight then almost always I have to login simply for this.
It’s annoying as I mostly use cellular data, so on occasion when I turn wifi on for large upload/download or a video call, I frequently forget to turn it off, then notice when checking the lock screen for the date or time, and then try to turn off wifi and vpn and can’t without unlocking.
Not a huge issue in the scheme of things but it is frustrating as this used to work differently/imho better in the past.
