DEVONtechnologies has issued DEVONthink 4.2 (aka Cassini, named after the lunar crater) with full support for macOS 26 Tahoe’s Liquid Glass design, a new app icon, and a novella-length list of new features and improvements. The release adds support for manually creating named versions in the Versions inspector, updates the appearance of informational text to be more consistent throughout the interface, ensures that PDFs in Tahoe respect Dark mode preferences, updates drag-and-drop and copy-and-paste to be more compatible with third-party editors, fixes a bug that prevented ordered lists in Markdown from rendering correctly, ensures the clutter-free setting is respected when capturing a Web page within DEVONthink, and fixes a bug that prevented the Sorter from appearing in the menu bar in Tahoe.
The Pro edition also receives a number of improvements, including support for saving up to 50 chats in the Chat Assistant, allowing dynamic changes for a current chat (including Search scope, Usage, and Documents mode), and enabling you to choose between DEVONthink, Perplexity, or Exa for Web and Wikipedia searches. DEVONthink Pro 4.2 also adds support for updated AI models (including Claude 4.5, GPT 5.2, Gemini 3, and Google Nano Banana Pro), adds support for bookmarks in many AI-driven functions (like labeling, rating, and tagging via the Data menu), and fixes a bug that stripped Markdown blocks from chat messages during a chat or when saving the conversation. ($99 new for DEVONthink, $199 for DEVONthink Pro, and $499 for DEVONthink Server with a 15% discount for TidBITS members; upgrades available; release notes; 89.7 MB; macOS 13+)
