DEVONtechnologies has released DEVONthink 4.4 (aka Tycho, named after one of the Moon’s most prominent craters, itself named after the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe) with an AI assistant and Markdown enhancements. Both the standard and Pro editions of the document and information manager improve the appearance and reliability of the DEVONthink Markdown parser and renderer, add two new export commands for exporting Markdown documents to native LaTeX or PDF, enables you to copy multiple selected ranges in the Markdown WYSIWYG editor, and add a new Reader view that displays a cleaner read of Web content like bookmarks, HTML documents, and Web archives. The release also fixes a few bugs in macOS 27 Golden Gate, including one that could delete or damage PDF annotations, a crash that could occur when selecting text in the Chat assistant, and a problem with dragging and dropping multiple emails from Apple Mail.
The Pro edition adds a new AI library that enables you to create, store, and sync roles, prompts, and skills that can trigger your smart rules; adds an option to the Chat assistant that enables direct use of DEVONthink’s MCP tools to make multi-step tasks noticeably faster and much cheaper; adds support for the fm serve server in Golden Gate as an OpenAI-compatible provider; allows you to file documents and groups created via the Chat assistant by providing a name or path; and improves caching and response filtering to reduce costs and increase accuracy in the Chat assistant.
