Interesting possibility. I will test that out.
I had this very issue and went thru apple to requiring a store visit for them to turn off something in accessibility features that I didn’t catch and it significantly reduced the cursor jump and selection of text while typing which typically deletes half of what’s typed - using edit undo repeatedly gets the deleted text back but the cursor jump has improved since my visit to the store altho at least 5 times today I have had to use command Z to undo until text that was deleted returns and I can continue typing - a real pain and it seems directly related to palm touching the trackpad on my M1 MBP Max - so - I will try the suggestion re the touch to click turn off but I had it off and got tired of having to move the cursor to every text entry position to type with a click instead of a touch so - I think its a compromise of using the command z several times a day to have touch click rather than force click? Your milage may vary!
