Curiosities from MacOS/iOS 27.2

  1. On both platforms, I’m getting prompted for my password to enable fingerprint/facial recognition more frequently. I’ve never understood why Apple does that in the first place. There was some mumble about ‘security’, but forcing a LESS secure mechanism to re-enable a MORE secure mechanism just doesn’t make much sense to me.
  2. On iMessages, I’ve been swapping messages with a friend who’s on an airplane with Starlink internet. His messages are coming across as a new sender, rather than aligning to his existing identity. And even more strange, every message is generating A NEW entry in my address book.
  3. Mac OS 27.2 delivered a new version of Music.app. It’ll take me a week or so to see if the various errors (both Bohrbugs, which I can test, and Hesienbugs, where I have to give them time to manifest) have been fixed.
