A bit off-topic but related to electronic security…
Apparently this has been an issue for many years but thefts have increased recently. Most vehicles have an onboard diagnostics port (OBD) under the dash for use in servicing. This can enable mechanics with the correct coded device to start the car without the key fob.
The problem is that car thieves are getting hold of these devices. Several products are available to mechanically lock the port - just remember to give the (legitimate) mechanic the key when he/she services the vehicle.
