Could this be why you stayed at Monterey?

It could have been because I have worked with both in the past, but since this was a Mac I intended to use only for virtual machines, that was not my reason.
And the reason I have not upgraded to newer os is that it works

Also consider that Monterey is the last macOS version that’s supported by Apple on 2014 mini hardware.
(and yes, I know that OCLP can allow newer versions of macOS to run on 2014 minis, but I’m not inclined to deal with a) things that don’t quite work right from what I researched out of the OCLP support site or to b) delaying installing Apple security updates while the developers figure out if Apple changed something that breaks their hacks, or c) reducing the security of macOS so they can hack around Apple’s dropped devices support).
